Max Renier

is a Dutch Second Language educator at GO! Atheneum Hoboken (Antwerp)

During his studies of Social Work (bachelor and masters), he elaborated on subjects such as diversity and focused on how social networks support young newcomers. As an intern in Peru, he facilitated English classes to impoverished youth in favelas and found ways to connect with them through coordinating sports activities.

As a teacher, Max understands the importance of language and multilingualism in the diverse society we live in. Alongside in-class learning, Max looks for different opportunities in leisure activities, to strengthen individual well-being of his students, build a more stable social network and engage in informal language acquisition. He therefore connects with (youth) organisations and initiatives. Max is keen to be part of EdUC to help build a network of good practices of informal language acquisition and looks forward to facilitating trainings and workshops for trainers and volunteers.
